The theory and practice of regional digital development will be discussed on November 10-11 at the seminar in Molodechno. The meeting brought together a wide range of experts - heads of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, regional, city and district administrations, industry organizations, universities. In total - more than 60 people. Representatives of Beltelecom will talk about modern "smart city" technologies.
The seminar was opened by the Minister of Communications and Informatization Konstantin Shulgan:
- Today's event will once again emphasize the importance of the work to create "smart cities" both in the regions and in the country as a whole. This direction requires new breakthrough technologies and solutions that bring comfort, efficiency and help everyone save their time. Today, a number of pilot projects are already being implemented, such as My City, Smart Quarter and others. I am convinced that new ideas will be heard at the seminar that we can discuss and that will be of interest to the heads of organizations, district and regional administrations, since all of them are aimed at obtaining economic benefits.
The participants were also welcomed by the Director of the Regional Branch of the International Telecommunication Union Natalia Mochu, representatives of the executive branch, the rector of the Belarusian State Academy of Communications.
The work program began with topical issues of creating "smart cities" and digital development. The first session introduced the legal foundations of state regulation of this sphere, then the participants considered the practical implementation of infrastructure projects.
Beltelecom will present the "My City" mobile application to the participants. The initiative was developed within the framework of the State Program "Digital Development of Belarus" and is aimed at improving the comfort and quality of life of citizens. The pilot project was launched in February 2021 in Polotsk. To date, the project is successfully operating in 12 cities of Belarus.
With the help of the application, users get access to the city's infrastructure: from medicine and education to shopping and leisure. Making an appointment, booking a table in a cafe, paying for tickets, delivering goods - all this is available in one click. The resource is constantly updated, its functionality is expanded, new options are added.
The seminar was organized by the Belarusian State Academy of Communications with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with the Regional Branch of the International Telecommunication Union for the CIS Region. Its goal is to promote sustainable digital development of the administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Belarus by improving the professional competencies of representatives of city and district administrations.
