The decision to establish the historical information center of the Minsk branch of RUE Beltelecom was made by the board of the Minsk branch of RUE Beltelecom on June 24, 2005.
The employees of all divisions of the branch took part in collection of materials and exhibit items on the history of establishment and development of communications in the Minsk region.
The grand opening of the historical information center took place on April 17, 2008, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Minsk branch of RUE Beltelecom.
The expositions of the historical information center are located in the premises of the Minsk Telecommunication Production Unit - 2, Minskaya str., Kolodishchi, and devoted not only to the history of development of all types of communications, but also to the labor veterans, honored workers and people, who have dedicated their lives to the communications industry.
Separately, the unique exposition of the cable communication lines is presented in the territory of the Kolodishchi base.
The telegraph and telephone sets of various years of manufacture, the first radios, radio-phonographs, measuring equipment, urban, rural and radio communication equipment of different years, unique electronic tubes, communication cables, photos and much more are vailable in the historical and information center.
The historical information center can demonstrate various documentaries and presentations about the prominent personalities in the communications industry, the history of the Minsk branch and its employees, and the advanced technologies of the services provided.
The visitors of the center can call from a pay-phone, listen to radiobroadcasts from a prototype of a pre-war overhead line and listen to old gramophone records.
